April 2022 Issue 2
President's Report
What is the meaning of volunteerism? “It is the principle of donating time and energy for the benefit of other people in the community as a social responsibility rather than for any financial reward.”
I can't tell you how much I appreciate my current board. The volunteerism that they have shown for the benefit of the ARMA New England community is outstanding. This board and the ARMA community have mutually benefited from each other.
We have an exciting few months coming up. In April we have the incredible Ann Gore coming to town, virtually that is. In May, hopefully, the last virtual meeting of the year, we've got the time set aside to meet Lewis Eisen and a valuable three-day workshop. Then we have the year-end IN PERSON event. This is still being worked on and details will be out soon. We are so focused, that we are even planning the September meeting which is going to be a Golf event at Mohegan Sun!
We also have some exciting transitions coming up and a chance for you to volunteer and be part of this exciting chapter. I'll be stepping down as President in June and moving into the Past President role. We will have elections for the roles of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Multiple committees are available for anyone and everyone:
- VP of Professional Development
- VP of Information Technology led currently by Meg Duncan
- VP of Membership, led currently by John Curran
- VP of Marketing
- VP of Community Outreach, led currently by Stephanie McKinney
- VP of Business Development
We want your involvement and any amount of time that you can dedicate to ARMA New England. If that is simply a committee role, we want you! To volunteer and be part of this organization is the real benefit of your ARMA membership. The involvement with the people in your community is a real benefit to you!
Volunteerism has been my goal over my tenure as President and I couldn't be prouder of the volunteers I've been associated with during this time. Thank you!

Welcome New Members
Greetings members, friends and supporters of ARMA New England! We are already well into 2022 and it looks like another challenging year. First, we extend a huge thanks to our existing members for your continued association, loyalty and contributions to the chapter. Currently, there are over 105 members in the ARMA New England Chapter representing six different states including CT, MA, ME, NH, RI and VT.
We also welcome the newer members of our chapter including those who rejoined and especially those first timers to ARMA. Each new and existing member brings their own special “flavor” to the chapter, which creates a varied repository of knowledge that benefits all members. The additional benefits of joining our local ARMA New England include the following:
- Collaborating and networking with local New England members
- Opportunities to add value and to grow your business via a local network
- Professional development and job postings specific to New England
- Monthly member spotlights posted on our home page, Twitter and LinkedIn
- Sponsorship opportunities to showcase your business
- Ways to help the New England community via charity outreach events
Our chapter looks forward to expanding our membership in 2022 by developing more regional relationships. Please take the opportunity to reach out to your fellow members and our board of directors for industry expertise, resources and collaboration. Also, take the time to contact your colleagues and friends and share the advantages of joining our chapter. We hope that you have a happy and healthy rest of the year!
Community Service
Community Outreach is working on a number of projects. They are very excited to share the first ever Meet Up Survey. There are 4 questions with a small description of the purpose of the survey. Take the survey to help make the Meet Ups work for you!
The Community Outreach committee is hard at work on developing the end of the year meeting. Scheduled for June in Hingham, MA. The committee is looking at including walking tours, visiting the historical society or the public library. Details are still being worked out! If you'd like to get involved or would like to sponsor the meeting, contact Stephanie McKinney, VP Community Outreach via email.
Information Technology - Website News
Meg Duncan, VP Information Technology has been helping ARMA New England with the information technology needs. You might be thinking, that she is an Informational Profressional, working in an IT Department somewhere. Actually, Meg just has a love of technological things and loves learning!
The most current project is researching what an association needs to hold a hybrid meeting. Yes the chapter is actually thinking about having one in the future! It is exciting to think about. In it's simplist form, it would take a meeting link for the virtual attendees and a webcam, so the virtual attendees would see what the in-person attendees see. It would also have a unified platform for messaging, meeting comments and Q&A.
If this sounds exciting to you, I invite you to be on the Information Technology committee. Feel free to reach out to Meg via email.
